The zoographic characteristic of Apodemus peninsulae population in the maintenance of hantavirus infection in the south of the Maritime Territory of Russia

Pacific Institute of Geography, Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Vladivostok, Russia

The factors affecting on distribution of the Amur virus — causative agent of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome — are considered in population of Korean field mouse (Apodemus peninsulae), natural host of this hantavirus. The relationship between of epizootic activity and number of rodents during different phases of population cycles (1999 — 2004.) was analyzed. The zoographic characteristics of A.peninsulae mice population (sex, age, reproduction activity) and their role as factors in maintenance of hantavirus infection in rodents of forest ecosystems in the south of the Maritime Territory was estimated. The importance of spatial structure of A.peninsulae population in dynamics of epizootic process during certain years and seasons was noted for the first time.
