A natural focus Crimean hemorrhagic fever (CHF) has been found on the territory of the Volgograd region. Ticks of the species Hyalomma marginatum, parasitizing mainly on cattle, are the main carriers of CHF virus. The capacity of the imago form of this ectoparasitic species for virus carriership has a tendency to growth in endemic areas. Acaricidal measures taken to control the parasites lead to a considerable decrease in the infestation of cattle with ticks. Small myomorph rodents have no essential influence on the aggravation of the epidemiological situation.
