Data on morbidity in Crimean hemorrhagic fever (CHF) among humans on the territory of the Southern Federal District (SFD) in 1999 — 2004 were summarized. Cases of this infection appeared as the result of the activation of its natural focus, covering the territory of 6 out of 13 administrative units of the SFD, as well as due to the action of a number of social factors. The greatest number of patients was registered in the Stavropol Territory. The first cases of the CHF were noted in April, in May and June a regular rise in morbidity to, respectively, 25.6% and 39.4% was registered and by August the epidemic phenomena stopped. On the whole, the transmissive mechanism of the spread of CHF prevailed in the SFD. Cases of the disease among humans were linked with the activity of the adult forms of ticks Hyalomma marginatum.
