The publications on the etiology, bacteriological and immunochemical diagnostics of pneumonia, as well as on the role of immunotherapy and prophylaxis in the treatment of this disease, are analized. The importance of immunological methods in the diagnostics of pneumonia is pointed out. Approaches to the immunotherapy and immunoprophylaxis of pneumonia are updated.
