State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Center in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), State Unitary Enterprise “Vodokanal”
The survey of water supply system in Yakutsk revealed the presence of a highly dangerous situation in the water intake facilities. For 3 years 67% of water specimens did not meet the requirements of the norms during the periods of high-tide. The low quality of water led to the 40-fold increase of morbidity in viral hepatitis A and to the 2- to 3-fold increase of morbidity in enteric infections. The conclusion on the necessity of taking a complex of measures in the infiltration structure, the construction of water-treatment plants of the functioning water intake and the realization of the optimum variant of the creation of a new modern water intake complex in the water area of the Tabaginsky dam site was made.
