Results of the bacteriological studies, carried out at the period of the restoration works after high-flood, during May 21 to September 30, 2001

State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Centers in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), in the Lensk and in the Mirninsk

The main task of the work of the bacteriological service under the conditions of the emergency situation were the problems of safe water supply. 1,170 water specimens were studied; of these, 472 specimens (40.3%) did not meet the requirements of the Sanitary Regulations and Norms 2.1.4. 559-96. To exclude the etiological role of pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms, the following specimens were controlled: 1,119 specimens of food-stuffs with 129 specimens (26.3%) not meeting the requirements; 2,381 washings from the objects of risk for the presence of enteric bacteria with 482 washings (20.2%) yielding positive results; 592 washings for the presence of pathogenic flora (all specimens yielding negative results). During the period of high-flood the microbial picture of 104 specimens taken from environmental objects were selectively studied (water, food-stuffs, washings). Only opportunistic bacteria (representatives of transitory enteric microflora) were found in a few cases.
